DiskSafe ver 2.0 - Documentation

3.7. Uninstalling DiskSafe

This will permanently remove DiskSafe from the computer. After rebooting, the only thing remaining on the hard disk will be the primary operating system and data drive, if it is in use.

Procedure 3.20. Uninstalling DiskSafe

  1. Boot to the Administrative Interface

  2. Select Uninstall from the menu

  3. Select Yes to the confirmation prompt

  4. Allow DiskSafe to remove itself and resize the primary operating system partition

The final point at which you may change your mind is the confirmation prompt, shown in Figure A.24, “Uninstalling DiskSafe”. After selecting Yes, DiskSafe will uninstall and shut the computer down.

3.7.1. Useful Tips

About the uninstallation process, you may find the following information useful:

  • DiskSafe will remove its own partition and the backup partition and then grow the primary operating system partition to use the free space.

    • If no data drive is in use, DiskSafe will expand the primary operating system to use the entire hard disk.

    • If a data drive is in use, DiskSafe will expand the primary operating system to use the remaining space. The data drive will not be modified in any way.

  • For simplicity, DiskSafe will use its own boot loader to boot directly to Windows. This is most compatible with all operating systems and cloning operations. Of course, you may re-install the Windows boot loader by running fdisk /mbr or other tools.
